Rupee Holds Steady Against Major Currencies Today

Pakistan Rupee

The Pakistani rupee held largely steady against major foreign currencies in the open market today, with only minor movement recorded across the dollar, euro and pound sterling.

According to reports, the US Dollar was available at Rs278.85 for buying and Rs279.25 for selling, while the Euro traded at Rs319.63 for buying and Rs323.91 for selling, and the UK Pound Sterling stood at Rs376.42 for buying and Rs380.91 for selling. The relative stability comes despite continued global uncertainty tied to regional conflicts and shifting expectations around interest rate policy in major economies.

For importers, exporters and everyday consumers, a stable rupee offers some short term predictability in a year that has otherwise been marked by volatility across fuel prices, gold rates and broader inflation. Currency stability is often closely watched by businesses that rely on imported raw materials, since even modest depreciation can quickly filter through to the cost of goods on store shelves.

Analysts tracking Pakistan’s currency markets have periodically pointed to remittance inflows and the country’s ongoing engagement with international lenders as key factors supporting the rupee’s relative stability this year. Whether that stability holds will likely depend on how broader regional tensions, including those tied to the Gulf and Iran, continue to affect global oil prices and investor sentiment toward emerging markets like Pakistan.
